Microsoft Office
Open office products used for spreadsheets and word processing will be taught.
The Excel course encompasses a whole host of training sessions to bring you up to speed with the latest version of Excel. You’ll begin by understand the basics of excel. You’ll then begin formatting data, sorting it to show the desired results and completing simple calculations. Once your comfortable here you start more complex calculations – producing charts to show your results of data compiled and producing pivot tables for showing selected data.
Our Word course begins with Formatting documents. You’ll quickly be able to Insert pictures and photographs, Set up an index and add links between documents. Once the foundations are in place you’ll begin bookmarking, mail merging documents and producing labels. At this point you’ll learn to produce publicity by inserting links between documents/the internet. You’ll also be able to insert charts and tables as well as acquire lots of help with touch typing.
The Publisher course is great for anyone looking to create eye catching designs for business or personal use. This course features leaflet, newsletter & brochure design – great for keeping customers up to date. You’ll learn to make invitations, cards and postcards for any event & even create yourself a new business card.
The PowerPoint course will equip you with all the skills necessary to present your ideas & services professionally. You’ll learn how presentations for displaying on screen work and how to add animations. You’ll be able to create handouts; designs that can be used in other packages (including tools available) and create family trees/organisation charts.
Meet your PC!
We start with how to turn it on and shut it down (how it differs from just turning it off) and then move on to using the mouse / touchpad / touchscreen. You’ll then learn where documents are stored, how to save files to other devices e.g. pen drives, One Drive, Drop Box & understand files and folders. Once you have the fundamentals you’ll begin personalising your device and setting passwords (plus learning what they are and why they are important). Further lessons include “Antivirus software – is it important?”, “Main function and control key functions” and “Finding your way round the keyboard”.

Your photographs are important to you so let us teach you to transfer them from other devices and put them in folders, safely. We can show you how to modify them to improve the quality and insert them in documents, emails, other social media.
Facebook is a very powerful platform for creating contacts and keeping in touch with friends and family. We’ll guide you on security settings and how to find friends on Facebook. We’ll also teach you how to use it for keeping in contact, sharing information, posts etc.
